Emergency Slots

Emergency slots are special appointment slots that appear at the top of search results for patients looking for urgent care. They bypass the standard booking window and can be booked on very short notice.

Enabling emergency slots

Emergency slots must be enabled by the Local Health Care team. Contact info@localhealthcare.com.au to request activation for your clinic.

Creating an emergency slot

Once enabled:

1. Go to Appointments
2. Click Add Emergency Slot
3. Select the doctor and date/time
4. Set an optional capacity (how many patients can book this slot)
5. Save

The slot will appear as "urgent/same-day" in patient search results immediately.

Removing an emergency slot

Emergency slots that have passed are automatically archived. To remove an upcoming slot:

1. Find it in the Appointments list (filter by type: Emergency)
2. Click Remove slot

Any patients who had already booked the slot will receive a cancellation notification.

Best practices

• Create emergency slots on the day, not in advance, to ensure they're used for genuine urgent care
• Keep slot duration short (15–20 minutes) for emergency consultations
• Monitor bookings — emergency slots fill quickly
